The week Ashan was preparing for the TOEFL exam, his elder sister suddenly returned home with her daughter. Their father asked her what had happened and why she hadn't informed them in advance. Their mother, more attuned to such matters, guessed, "Did you and your husband have an argument?" His sister shook her head and said, "We got divorced."
Ashan's parents, being traditional, couldn't accept the idea of divorce and reproached his sister for making such a major decision without consulting them. "A divorced woman with a child—how will you manage?" they lamented.
His sister decided it was best to lay everything out. It turned out that her husband, Chen Junsheng, had always been a playboy. Not long after their marriage, his true colors began to show. She endured it for the sake of both families, but he remained incorrigible. Although her in-laws adored her, they couldn’t rein in their son.
The breaking point came when the couple jointly opened a Western restaurant. She hoped to use her investment to earn money and support her family without inviting criticism. However, Junsheng not only failed to contribute to the business but often invited his friends over for meals without paying. When she confronted him, he claimed it was unthinkable to charge his friends. Worse still, he began an affair with the restaurant’s manager. This led to a failing business and mounting debts owed to suppliers.
Since she was listed as the legal owner, creditors came after her. Fed up, she decided to cut her losses, abandon the restaurant, and file for divorce. Junsheng, who felt she never truly loved him, readily agreed.
Ashan, who had already suspected something was amiss during her previous visit, was not surprised. "Don’t worry, Sis," he reassured her. "You’ve always taken care of this family. Now, let me step up."
Although she returned home heartbroken, the family was reunited. Their father, who doted on her the most, quickly came around, and with the addition of her lively young daughter, Yinyin, the household became filled with energy and laughter once again.
就在阿三準備考托福的那個禮拜，老姐突然帶著女兒回來了。老爸問她是什麼原因，怎麼不事先通知一聲就回來了，還是老媽比較瞭女人，「是不是小倆口子鬧意見吵架了？」老姐搖了搖頭說：「是離婚了。」
阿三爸媽是老時代的人，不能接受離婚的事，直怪老姐為什麼不找爸媽商量就自作主張。一個女人家離了婚，怎麼照顧孩子啊！
老姐說事到如今不如就把事情說個明白吧！原來陳俊生生性就是個花花公子，跟阿三大姐結婚後不久就露出狐狸尾巴來了。老姐一直為著兩個家而忍著，不過俊生本性難移。雖然公婆很疼老姐，但是無法管束住自己的兒子。
這次的引火線，是兩人合開了一家西餐廳。老姐想自己投資賺錢貼補娘家，比較不會遭人非議。沒想到俊生不但不會照顧生意，反而常常呼朋喚友來店裏請客。老姐跟他理論，他還說自己的朋友來吃飯這麼好意思收錢。更糟糕的是俊生還搭上了店裏的經理小姐，搞得不但生意做不好，還欠了外面供應商一屁股債。老姐是店裏登記的負責人，追債的都追到老姐頭上來了。老姐把心一橫，店也不要了，馬上要求離婚。俊生認為老姐並不真心愛他，所以一口就答應了。
阿三其實心裏早就有數，上次老姐回來的時候，他就已經覺得有點不對。果然不幸料中！阿三說道：「老姐妳放心，以前妳一直照顧著這個家，現在讓我來接手。」雖然老姐是傷透了心回來，不過全家又團聚在一起。而且老爸是最疼老姐，再加上外孫女茵茵，家裏顯得有生氣多了，而且時常充滿了笑聲。
