I dreamed that I was working in a jewelry store alongside two young male colleagues, and we were helping customers choose gold jewelry.
A woman from mainland China entered the store and browsed for a long time. Eventually, she struck up a casual conversation, saying she wanted to open a jewelry store in Florida, USA, and asked if we were interested in joining her. The two young men got excited, eagerly saying they’d love the opportunity to work in Florida.
The woman continued to browse around the store, seemingly without any intention to buy anything. Meanwhile, I kept attending to the store, staying mindful of the items. For some reason, I suddenly found myself wearing a glass necklace with a Chinese knot pendant. The woman commented that this necklace was her favorite. At first, I thought she was referring to the diamond necklace I was wearing, but she clarified that it was the glass necklace she liked.
I told her, “This one isn’t expensive! It was a gift from my teacher when I graduated middle school.” Curious, she asked why my teacher gave me a necklace. I explained, “I didn’t do well in middle school, but I unexpectedly performed well on the high school entrance exams. My teacher gave me this necklace to encourage me.”
She then continued talking about her idea of opening a jewelry store in Florida, and the two young men remained enthusiastically engaged in discussing this opportunity to work abroad. I, on the other hand, wondered, “Will she really provide the funding?”
Later, for some reason, I found a CD of Sarah Chen’s "Dream to Awakening" (夢醒時分). I thought, “Wow, it’s been ages since I’ve listened to old songs.” So, I started playing the CD in the store. Just then, a couple walked in and exclaimed, “Wow! Dream to Awakening!”
At that moment, the two young men suddenly turned into two young women. While the song was playing, I remarked to them, “You probably haven’t heard this song before.” To my surprise, they replied that they had.
As I listened to Dream to Awakening, I began humming along. I told the two young women how popular the song was back in the day. I still remember the surprised expressions of the couple when they walked in, saying, “Wow! It’s been so long since we’ve heard this song—old songs are truly the best.”
For some reason, the conversation shifted, and I ended up telling the customers that I had a pet lizard. They asked why I kept a lizard, and I replied, “Because it sheds its skin—it’s adorable.”
As I continued playing Dream to Awakening, a voice suddenly spoke to me: “You’re foolish; you need to start from the very beginning.” I was puzzled, wondering what it meant, and then I woke up.
