I had a dream where it seemed like I was living in ancient times, during a period of many wars. I was a strategist, and my lord was a feudal lord. He wanted to attack another kingdom, and I told him I had a plan. So, I went over to the enemy's side.
I disguised myself as a beggar and knocked on their city gates, asking for food. After some thought, they gave me some.
I told them I had other friends who were also hungry and asked if they could spare some food for them too. They agreed, and I returned with 1,000 people, all knocking on the gate and saying we needed food. The ruler of that country hesitated at first, but seeing so many people starving, he ordered his servants to feed us all.
Later, I returned to my own country and told my lord, "You can attack them now because their food supply is running low."
Honestly, I felt a bit bad, as I had taken advantage of the other side’s kindness and planned to attack them when they were weakened. But perhaps that's just the nature of war—deception and the harsh reality of survival of the fittest.
Then the scene shifted, and I saw the opposing ruler sending people to defend the mountains behind their kingdom. I shouted at them, "No matter how much you defend, it’s useless!" Their general replied, "How is it useless?"
And I said, "This is Taiwan!" Then I woke up, not knowing what this dream meant.
1. A Peaceful Turn
As I shouted, "This is Taiwan!" the opposing general paused, his expression softening. "We have no reason to continue this fight," he said calmly. "Why don't we settle this without bloodshed?" Surprised by his response, I returned to my lord and suggested a peace negotiation. Both sides came together, and rather than war, we exchanged resources and established a peaceful alliance. I woke up feeling relieved and hopeful, sensing that even the most difficult conflicts could find a peaceful resolution.
2. A Betrayal Unfolds
When I told my lord, "This is Taiwan!" he nodded but said nothing. I watched as his army marched forward to attack. However, the enemy had anticipated our strategy. As our forces approached, they sprang an ambush, catching us off guard. I realized that the general had used my own tactics against me, exploiting our overconfidence. I woke up feeling the sting of betrayal and the realization that in war, even the cleverest plans can be turned on their head.
3. An Ethical Dilemma
As I shouted at the general, "This is Taiwan!" he didn’t respond with anger. Instead, he said quietly, "Do you really believe this is the right way?" His words struck a chord, and I hesitated. Looking around at the starving people I had deceived, I felt a deep sense of guilt. I decided to stop the attack and proposed to my lord that we find a different solution—one that didn’t involve taking advantage of others’ kindness. Though it was a difficult decision, we chose to retreat and seek another path. I woke up with a sense of inner peace, knowing that I had upheld my values.
4. Victory at a Cost
As I shouted, "This is Taiwan!" my lord’s army successfully attacked the enemy’s forces, and we won the battle. However, as I stood among the wreckage, watching the hungry people I had deceived, I felt no sense of triumph. The victory felt hollow. My lord praised me for my cunning, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had lost something deeper—my sense of honor. I woke up feeling conflicted, unsure if the cost of victory had been worth it.
5. A Surprising Alliance
When I shouted, "This is Taiwan!" the general lowered his weapon and responded, "Then let’s stop this senseless fighting." Instead of launching the attack, both sides met on the battlefield, not as enemies, but as allies. We realized that we had more to gain by working together, and instead of continuing the war, we formed a united front. Together, we decided to share resources and rebuild our lands. I woke up feeling a deep sense of unity and possibility, as though even the fiercest adversaries could find common ground.
6. A Dream Within a Dream
After I shouted, "This is Taiwan!" everything around me began to blur. I suddenly realized I was dreaming within the dream. As the battlefield vanished, I found myself standing in a quiet, peaceful village. The war, the deception, the conflict—it had all been an illusion. I walked through the village, reflecting on how easily we can become consumed by the desire to outwit others, only to lose sight of what truly matters: peace and kindness. I woke up with a newfound sense of clarity about what I truly valued.
Each of these endings takes the dream in a different direction, exploring themes of peace, betrayal, ethical dilemmas, or unexpected alliances.
This dream seems to reflect deep themes of strategy, morality, and the complex nature of conflict. Here's an interpretation based on the elements in the dream:
Ancient setting and war: The ancient setting and wars suggest a sense of being in a time of survival, strategy, and intense decision-making. You may feel like you're in a situation that requires careful planning, clever tactics, or strategic thinking, possibly in your waking life.
Role as a strategist: As a strategist, you are a key advisor, someone who uses intellect and cunning rather than brute force. This could represent your real-life role as someone who solves problems or navigates challenges using careful thought, planning, and insight.
Deception and guilt: The act of deceiving the enemy by taking advantage of their kindness and depleting their resources represents a moral dilemma. You acknowledged feeling "bad" about this, which points to an internal conflict—perhaps you’re questioning whether achieving success through manipulation or at the expense of others is justified. This might be linked to real-life decisions where you feel you’ve had to make tough, morally gray choices.
Harsh realities of war: The phrase "war is ruthless, and the strong prey on the weak" reflects a deeper understanding of the harsh realities of life. It could symbolize a belief that success or survival in certain situations requires being tough or using every advantage, even if it feels morally wrong. You might be wrestling with a situation where you feel forced to compromise your values to achieve your goals.
Final conversation and the mention of Taiwan: The shift in the dream where you confront the enemy general and mention "Taiwan" seems significant. Taiwan could symbolize something personally meaningful to you, possibly related to identity, belonging, or a struggle for autonomy. This part of the dream could represent a desire for clarity or resolution in a situation where you feel there's no hope for defense or escape, despite the other side’s attempts to hold on.
Waking up confused: The fact that you woke up unsure of what it meant indicates that you're still processing these thoughts and feelings. There might be unresolved emotions or conflicts in your life that are manifesting through this dream, leaving you with lingering questions about what actions or decisions are truly right or fair.
Overall, this dream suggests you may be grappling with issues related to morality, strategy, and the consequences of your actions, especially in situations that involve conflict or competition. It could also reflect a concern with fairness and whether the ends justify the means.
