I came with a group of friends to what seemed like an ancient site resembling mainland China. Our itinerary included a train journey passing a large lake, where we could also see a giant statue of Guanyin along the way. This is the third time I've dreamed about this place. I began to wonder if I had actually been here in real life, but I haven't.
The first time I dreamed about this place, I came with a group tour; the second time, I came alone. During the first two times, I hadn't started keeping a dream journal, so I didn't record them. This time, I dreamed of coming with a group again. After the activities ended, I knew I was going to take a train into the city.
This time, I came with a Buddhist group. The organizer sister came to me at the last minute and asked if I could help with group activities. It turned out they wanted to liven up the atmosphere with enthusiastic Western music, but the person leading the activities was moving slowly, so nobody was enthusiastic.
They came to ask if I could lead the activities. I said if I lead, I won't follow your 'standard' moves! I'll move freely with the music because I didn't bother to learn those 'standard' moves.
Later, it was my turn to perform. Originally, everyone was reserved and movements were minimal. I deliberately demonstrated exaggerated moves, leading everyone to sing and dance together enthusiastically. Everyone laughed at my overly dramatic movements, but I said that's what makes it fun! The atmosphere became lively.
After the activities, on the way back, we took a boat first. When we reached the port, we had to move quickly because we needed to catch a train. I knew these routes because I had been here before, so I was familiar with them.
After boarding the train, I kept walking towards the front carriages, not wanting to stay in the crowded rear carriages.
When I reached the second carriage, I saw many people stuck at the entrance to the first carriage. I initially thought of staying in the second carriage, but I still wanted to get into the first one. So, I squeezed through the people at the door and reached the first carriage, where there were a few empty seats. I continued walking forward and sat in the frontmost seats, waiting for the train to take me to the city.
Then, I noticed a male team member who also came into the first carriage following me. There were empty seats next to me, but he hesitated to sit beside me. He found a seat and sat down, leaving an empty seat between us. He nodded and greeted me.
I remembered I had hot water and tea leaves, so I asked him if he wanted some tea. Because someone later occupied the seat between us, we didn't talk much.
So, I sat on that train because I knew I was heading to the city next.
1. A Serene Ending – Connection and Peace
After sitting down in the first carriage, the male team member hesitates no more and sits beside you. You offer him tea, and this time he accepts. As you both sip tea in comfortable silence, the train glides smoothly towards the city. You look out the window and notice the view has changed to a vast, peaceful landscape, with mountains and rivers bathed in golden light. The sense of peace washes over you, as if you are exactly where you're meant to be. The train arrives in the city, but you feel no rush—everything is calm and in harmony.
2. A Mysterious Ending – Discovering the Unknown
As the train approaches the city, you feel a sudden shift in the atmosphere. The familiar route takes an unexpected turn, and the train begins to slow down near an unknown station, hidden in mist. You feel drawn to get off the train, as if something or someone is calling you. The male team member follows as you both step onto the platform. The mist lifts slightly, revealing ancient, crumbling statues and a temple at the edge of the station. You realize this is the mysterious place you've visited before in your dreams, but now it’s real. The dream ends as you stand in front of the temple, unsure whether to enter.
3. An Adventurous Ending – Unexpected Change
As you sit in the first carriage, the train suddenly jolts, and the lights flicker. You hear an announcement: “We’ve changed our course. The train is headed to a new destination.” You look at the male team member, and he gives you a look of curiosity, mirroring your own feelings. Without hesitation, you both decide to stay on the train, embracing the unknown journey. The scenery outside becomes unfamiliar, wild landscapes and cities unlike anything you've seen. You feel a surge of excitement—this detour feels like a new adventure, leading to unexpected opportunities.
4. A Reflective Ending – Returning to the Ancient Site
As the train nears the city, something compels you to return to the ancient site. You stand up and begin walking toward the back of the train, retracing your steps. The male team member watches but stays seated. Eventually, you step off the train and find yourself back at the ancient site, but it feels different this time—quieter, more peaceful. You explore the site alone, walking through the old ruins, and find a small, hidden door leading to a sanctuary. Inside, you sit quietly, feeling a sense of closure, as if you’ve found the missing piece of something long forgotten.
5. A Surreal Ending – Lost in Time
As the train moves toward the city, time begins to distort. The landscape outside starts to blur, and you realize the train isn’t moving toward any ordinary city—it’s heading into a different realm. The male team member looks at you, his expression calm but knowing, as if he understands what’s happening. You try to stand up, but everything slows down, and you feel weightless. The train car dissolves around you, leaving you floating in a vast, starry expanse. You realize you are no longer bound by time or space, drifting freely, as the city you once expected to reach fades from view.
Each ending offers a different resolution to the dream, from peace and connection to mystery and adventure, reflecting various potential paths in life or inner states of mind.
This dream appears to weave together themes of exploration, self-discovery, leadership, and familiarity with the unknown. Here are some possible interpretations:
1. Recurring Dream of a Foreign Place
The fact that this is the third time you've dreamed of this ancient site suggests that it may represent a significant or unresolved aspect of your subconscious. The place feels familiar yet remains unreachable in real life, which could symbolize a yearning for connection with something in your past, heritage, or spiritual journey. The location itself, resembling an ancient site in mainland China, may symbolize history, tradition, or spiritual discovery.
2. The Train Journey and Progress
The train in the dream represents movement and transition. Trains often symbolize the path we are on in life, and the journey to a city could reflect personal or professional goals. Moving through the train cars towards the front may represent your desire for progress or control over your life's direction, as you seek less crowded, more peaceful spaces. The difficulty moving through people could reflect obstacles you face, but your perseverance to get to the front suggests determination.
3. Leadership and Authenticity
In the dream, you're asked to lead a group but reject the "standard" methods, instead choosing to do things your own way. This could reflect a growing sense of confidence and authenticity in real life, where you're finding your own voice and trusting your instincts. Your actions transform the group's energy, indicating that embracing your uniqueness and creativity can positively influence others. The exaggerated movements that brought fun and engagement reflect a deeper realization that authenticity creates joy and connection.
4. Male Team Member Interaction
The male team member following you into the first carriage but not sitting directly beside you could represent a figure in your waking life who may respect or admire you from a distance but isn't fully connected yet. The empty seat between you two suggests a barrier to closer communication or intimacy. Offering him tea could symbolize a desire to share warmth, comfort, or deeper connection, even though circumstances (the occupied seat) prevent further interaction.
5. Spiritual Undertones
The presence of a Buddhist group and the Guanyin statue suggest that the dream could also have spiritual meanings. Guanyin, a symbol of compassion, may point to your inner spiritual exploration or desire for peace and mindfulness. Being asked to lead activities by a spiritual group could reflect a calling to take a more active role in your spiritual or emotional life, bringing a balance between structure (the group’s expectations) and freedom (your own way of leading).
6. Familiarity and Confidence
Knowing the journey well, from the activities to catching the train and even where to sit, signifies that you feel prepared or confident in some area of your life. The dream suggests that, while challenges or crowds might slow you down, you have the ability to navigate through them based on prior experience or inner knowledge.
Overall Message:
This dream seems to encourage you to embrace your authentic self, trust your own leadership abilities, and continue progressing toward your goals. It may also hint at deeper spiritual or emotional growth, highlighting the importance of balance between tradition and freedom, connection and independence. The recurring nature of the dream suggests that there's something important here for you to explore, whether in your personal journey, spiritual life, or relationships.
