I dreamed that I was working at a company, and it seemed like I was a supervisor. That night, we had an end-of-year party, and I gave my team some generous raffle vouchers, which quickly became the talk of the office.
At first, I was practicing calligraphy in my office, but after a while, I got a bit bored and decided to wander around each floor, casually looking left and right. I noticed a variety of fancy pastries on the meeting room table.
I kept walking back and forth across the different floors, somewhat conspicuously, as if I wanted my colleagues to see me and maybe even feel grateful towards me. So I continued to stroll around like that.
When I returned to my floor, I overheard the secretary answering a phone call. I told her, "I’ve already put all their raffle vouchers in the box," so she could respond to whoever was calling.
I went back to my office, and suddenly, someone entered. In my dream, this person was Fan Zhongyan, because he was skilled in poetry and had a graceful demeanor, giving off the impression of someone truly talented.
Since I had been practicing calligraphy earlier and only left because I was bored, my work was still on the desk along with my ink and writing tools.
With Fan Zhongyan there, I wanted to show off my calligraphy skills, so I picked up the brush, dipped it in ink, and tried to continue the small script I hadn’t finished. But my brush was a bit dry, and the bristles were stiff, so the characters didn’t turn out well. The earlier ones had been decent, but the later ones looked bad because the brush had hardened.
While I was writing, Fan Zhongyan was talking about where he came from in Sichuan, and I found the topic interesting. I put down the brush to focus on listening to him talk about Sichuan.
As he spoke, I kept asking questions, almost as if I was trying to challenge him. It seemed like something had gone wrong during the revolution in Sichuan, so he had to flee.
Fan Zhongyan kept talking, writing, and composing poetry. His calligraphy was beautiful. I kept listening to him describe events in Sichuan, which felt like they had something to do with the resistance movement in the rear lines during the war.
