I dreamed that I was packing at my home in the United States, preparing to ship some items to Taiwan.
There was a box that I tipped over, and inside, I found a porcelain table lamp base. I thought to myself, "Good thing I tipped it over just now without breaking it."
The porcelain base was intricately designed, with a light green color and decorated with gold and white lines depicting classical European-style artwork. The lampshade was nearby. The large box contained the lamp base, which I had tipped over.
I noticed that the original tungsten bulb attached to the lamp base was broken. I thought I would need to replace it with a new one. Carefully, I unscrewed the broken bulb—it looked like an industrial-style transparent glass bulb—and wondered if I could find a similar one to replace it. At the same time, I thought about how transporting such fragile items back to Taiwan would be troublesome. Since the original packaging was gone, someone had placed it into this oversized, ill-fitting box, which required a lot of packing material to protect it, making me feel a bit uneasy.
Then, the scene shifted, and I found myself upstairs in a storefront, seemingly in Spain. I saw a young artist using the space as a canvas, creating a large, square artwork featuring a character that looked a bit like a cute, cartoonish athlete.
It was a large, square art piece. As I moved closer to inspect it, I realized it wasn't flat but had a somewhat patchwork design, with the artist creating it on-site.
I thought that this kind of work, created spontaneously based on the environment, couldn't be shipped back to Taiwan. Each piece was unique, and the artist would have to be commissioned to create it on-site. These artworks couldn't be removed once they were installed, so they could only be made-to-order.
Looking downstairs, I noticed a shallow pool with my face reflecting on the water’s surface. A child was sitting nearby, along with a black and white long-haired dog that had a small bird perched on its head. The dog jumped into the pool to play, and the bird joined in, splashing around in the shallow water with the dog.
I went downstairs, hoping to catch the little bird. I couldn’t find it, so I looked around, wondering where it went. Eventually, I spotted the tiny, tiny, tiny bird near the water flow. I exclaimed, “Ah!” thinking how small it was.
The little bird hopped around energetically in the pool. I thought I needed to be very careful not to accidentally squeeze it.
I played with the bird, and it would hop over to me. But whenever I reached out to catch it, it would dart away. It kept jumping onto my hand, giving a little peck, and then hopping away again. It seemed like it just wanted to peck my hand and leave, peck and leave—I just couldn’t catch it.
