I dreamed that I was one of the prosecutors on the Ko Wen-je case. Since I was a rookie prosecutor, I mostly just listened and learned.
One of my classmates was Lim Soon, the elderly assistant from the Korean drama *Miss Night and Day*. While observing, they only gave me a chair without a desk. They were questioning and handling the trial in front, while I sat in the back, clutching a pile of documents.
Different cases were held in different courtrooms, so when we switched courtrooms, I had to find a new seat.
I saw Lim Soon and greeted her. I asked if she had attended the previous trials, and she said she had been at every one. I thought to myself that I might have seen her, but I was probably too focused on listening to the trial proceedings to notice.
Lim Soon and I were listening in on different courtrooms when I overheard that a prosecutor had taken a lot of money. People were saying, "No wonder these prosecutors enjoy such luxury. Even their clothes and bags are different now." I looked at my own bag, which seemed to be made of fake leather, peeling and looking quite worn out.
I glanced toward the door, looking out to another courtroom. I noticed these were all small courtrooms, so there weren’t many seats. In our courtroom, due to the special nature of the case, they had combined spaces with other courtrooms to allow for more seating.
As more and more prosecutors became involved in the case, the courtroom grew chaotic, and the number of people increased. With another change in courtroom and location, I had to take a shuttle bus to the next one, reminding myself to stay close to avoid missing it.
I was still holding onto a bunch of files, making sure not to lose them, and I had to protect my bag as well. The strap was long and could easily snag on people. I noticed a lot of people around me, unsure whether they were defendants or my classmates, but I just followed along with them.
When we arrived at the courthouse lobby, I lined up to enter. I reminded myself to quickly turn off my phone to avoid any disruptions, in case my mom called during the trial.
Inside the courtroom, I overheard that many judges and prosecutors had accepted bribes. The other side had many lawyers defending them. One lawyer looked very familiar, and I noticed the back of his suit was completely soaked. I thought, given how demanding this case is, he probably has to run around constantly, which explains why his suit was drenched.
In another courtroom, I lined up again to enter. Previously, I had a chair but no desk. This time, there was a desk but no chair. I had to wander around looking for a seat so I could sit and listen.
Since I was a rookie, no one looked after me, so I had to take care of myself to have the opportunity to observe and learn.
In the dream, Ko Wen-je declared that he was innocent. I vaguely remember sharing three opinions at some point, but I can only recall the last one: "You can keep saying you’re innocent, but if the court has solid evidence, saying it won’t help. After you’re convicted, I’ll visit you in prison."
1. Empowerment and Recognition
As the chaos in the courtroom grows, you suddenly receive a call to the front. One of the lead prosecutors has fallen ill, and you’re asked to step in and present the final argument. Despite your nerves, you stand confidently, armed with the knowledge you've gained from listening. You surprise everyone, including yourself, by delivering a compelling and precise argument. The judges commend you for your insight, and your peers recognize you as an up-and-coming prosecutor.
2. A Moment of Clarity
In the midst of the chaos, as you're rushing to find another seat in the next courtroom, everything stops. Time seems to freeze. Suddenly, you realize this trial represents an internal battle within yourself. The corruption, the constant moving, and the struggle for a seat are all manifestations of your own self-doubt and insecurities. You stand still in the courtroom, finally understanding that the only person who can give you permission to succeed is yourself. With this new awareness, you calmly take the lead and find a perfect seat—one that was always there, waiting for you.
3. A Twist in Justice
As you’re carrying your files and trying to keep up, you begin to notice strange inconsistencies in the case. When you look closer, you realize that some of the evidence has been tampered with, and the supposed corruption among prosecutors is a deliberate ploy to distract from the real guilty party. With your newfound insight, you manage to expose the truth, shifting the focus of the case and clearing Ko Wen-je's name. The dream ends with you being hailed as the hero who uncovered a massive conspiracy.
4. Personal Revelation
As the courtroom grows more chaotic, you find yourself drifting away from the trial. You leave the building and walk out into a peaceful garden. There, you encounter a version of yourself, sitting calmly with no documents, no worn-out bag—just a serene expression. You sit down next to your other self, and she explains that the courtroom represents all the noise and pressure in your life. She reassures you that stepping away from it all, even just for a moment, is sometimes necessary to regain clarity. You feel a wave of calm wash over you as you realize that balance and self-care are as important as ambition and hard work.
5. Surreal Turn
Suddenly, as you're shifting between courtrooms and carrying your files, the walls of the courthouse dissolve, revealing an infinite space filled with floating desks and chairs. You realize that you can create your own environment by simply imagining it. You create the perfect courtroom, with a desk, a chair, and all the resources you need to succeed. You take a seat at the center, and the chaos of the other courtrooms fades into the background. In this dream-world, you're no longer a passive observer—you are the one in control.
6. A Dark Revelation
As you follow the crowd to yet another courtroom, you begin to feel uneasy. Upon closer inspection, you realize that the people you're following are not your classmates or fellow prosecutors—they're ghosts of convicted criminals who haunt the courthouse. The corruption you’ve heard about is not just among the living but is tied to the souls of those who were wronged by the system. They warn you to be careful, or you too might get lost in the bureaucratic maze. The dream ends with you determined to bring justice not just for the living, but for the lost voices of the past.
7. A Surprising Alliance
As the courtroom chaos reaches its peak, you find yourself sitting next to Ko Wen-je. Rather than focusing on his innocence or guilt, he confides in you about the pressures of public life and the difficulties of being under constant scrutiny. Surprisingly, he offers you advice, telling you not to let the system overwhelm you. He suggests that sometimes the only way to navigate such chaos is to trust yourself and not the external noise. You wake up feeling a strange sense of solidarity and empowerment, as though you’ve just had a conversation with a mentor.
These alternate endings allow the dream to shift from chaos and self-doubt toward empowerment, introspection, or even mystery, each offering different insights into your psyche and life.
This dream seems to reflect feelings of uncertainty, responsibility, and navigating unfamiliar territory. Here’s an interpretation based on its key themes:
Rookie Prosecutor Role: You portray yourself as a rookie prosecutor, someone who is new to the job, listening and learning. This could symbolize how you might feel inexperienced or unsure in some area of your life—whether it’s in your career, personal relationships, or a new endeavor (possibly relating to your YouTube project or website). It may suggest you’re in a phase of growth and learning, absorbing information without being fully involved yet.
Observing and Noticing Details: Throughout the dream, you're paying close attention to details (like peeling leather on your bag or a wet suit). This might indicate that you are highly observant in real life, noticing flaws, difficulties, or signs of stress in your surroundings. These details could symbolize concerns about how you present yourself, feeling “lesser” compared to others who seem more successful or polished.
Overwhelm and Chaos: The chaotic environment in the courtroom, with many people involved, and the confusion about switching courtrooms and finding a seat, could reflect feelings of being overwhelmed by the complexity of a situation. You might be juggling multiple tasks or responsibilities, possibly feeling lost or uncertain about your place in a busy or competitive environment.
Switching Courtrooms and Finding a Seat: The repeated need to find a new seat, either with no desk or no chair, suggests a struggle for stability or finding your footing. You may feel like you’re in transition or facing obstacles that prevent you from getting comfortable in your role or environment. This could represent challenges you are facing when trying to carve out a space for yourself in life or work.
Themes of Corruption and Integrity: The discussions about prosecutors taking money and being bribed might point to concerns about fairness, ethics, or integrity in your environment. You may be reflecting on people in your life or situations where you feel there’s dishonesty or corruption, or it could represent inner conflicts about doing the "right" thing.
Feelings of Inferiority or Comparison: The mention of others having nicer clothes and bags, while you have a worn-out fake leather bag, could reflect feelings of inadequacy or comparison. Perhaps you feel like you're falling short compared to others around you, whether in material success, confidence, or recognition.
Responsibility and Pressure: The act of carrying many files, guarding your bag, and being aware of small details like turning off your phone to avoid disruptions, reflects the sense of responsibility you carry. You seem to be very cautious about making mistakes or losing control, indicating that you might be under a lot of pressure in waking life.
Interaction with Ko Wen-je: In the dream, Ko Wen-je, a public figure, maintains his innocence, and you provide him with a realistic perspective—highlighting that even if he claims innocence, the evidence could still convict him. This could symbolize a part of you that is coming to terms with reality, understanding that sometimes self-perception or intentions aren’t enough to change outcomes.
Overall, this dream may indicate that you’re navigating through a phase of learning, responsibility, and personal growth, with feelings of comparison, uncertainty, and overwhelm. The dream also highlights themes of fairness and ethics, perhaps signaling an internal conflict between maintaining integrity while dealing with external pressures.
