Fools have their own fortune. Although Ah-Tu was severely injured, his strong physique helped him escape from danger, and he gradually began to recover.
Whenever Ashan had a day off, he would visit Ah-Tu and another injured soldier at the hospital. During one visit, he noticed that Ah-Tu's medical record indicated his blood type as B, while the other soldier was O. Could it be that his blood was donated to his childhood friend, Ah-Tu?
After learning from the doctor and his fellow injured soldiers about Ashan's blood donation, Ah-Tu felt deeply touched. He was secretly happy that now there was military blood flowing in his veins. Although it wasn't much, he thought that his military actions would be more competent from now on. Lost in thought, he unconsciously raised his hand to salute a few times. Hmm! Not bad at all!
After a significant period of recovery, Ah-Tu and the other soldier were finally discharged from the hospital. The cooks in their unit prepared pig's trotter noodles to celebrate their return from the ordeal. Seeing Ah-Tu devour three bowls in a row, both the company commander and Ashan felt relieved.
Ah-Tu insisted that Ashan write a letter home to report his safety and inform his family that Ashan had donated blood to him. Unable to resist Ah-Tu's persistence, Ashan agreed to write a simple letter explaining the situation and assuring Ah-Tu's parents not to worry.
A few weeks later, Ashan received a letter from Ah-Mei. In it, she expressed heartfelt gratitude from the entire family for everything Ashan had done for Ah-Tu, and she hoped to thank him in person someday. She also mentioned that she had graduated from high school, helping her parents run their herbal medicine shop back in Sanxia. Zhou Dachuan’s grandfather had passed away, and Zhou Dachuan had moved to Taipei for work.
As Ashan read Ah-Mei's letter, he was struck by her neat handwriting, which reflected her personality—proper and delicate. He couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for her. Why did fate take away the voice of such a lovely girl?
