《Intuitive Thoughts, Creating Miracles》
On her way back from shopping, Lillian passed by a real estate advertisement center out of curiosity. Little did she expect that a sudden intuitive thought would touch her nerve about changing homes again. Standing high up, gazing at the panoramic view of beautiful scenery enveloped by a water curtain, Lillian suddenly felt a sense of tranquility and comfort. What she needed was space!
The saleswoman spoke eloquently, showcasing the location, architectural layout, and the elevator-accessed floors with one apartment per level. In Lillian's ears, it buzzed incessantly, almost like needles on her scalp. Without hesitation, she decided on a four-bedroom, one-living-room, one-dining-room, three-bathroom unit, with an additional parking space. Despite not owning a car, it could be rented out, a small additional income.
Impulsiveness was always Lillian's regretful elixir. Yet, many of her intuitive impulses had also brought her unexpected rewards. Was it fate or a stroke of luck? Lillian's impulsiveness coincided with the rise in Taiwan's housing market, further reinforcing her intuitive nature. As she rotated homes, the current value of Lillian's house in this prime Taipei location had truly skyrocketed.
The main reason for considering a move was the inadequate space in her current home's layout for her wheelchair-bound mother and one domestic helper, along with her child lacking a dedicated study area. Thus, Lillian always believed in such strokes of good fortune: that her intellectually disabled son brought wealth.
Once someone gets a good deal, they naturally become haughty; after all, it's human nature. In Lillian's eyes, Smith was a man without capability or initiative.
To showcase her unique vision and accumulate wealth, Lillian even arranged a single room for Smith, but not without a condition: paying NT$600,000 in exchange for benefits.
In reality, Lillian meticulously calculated Smith's salary and estimated savings. A woman's heart is an ocean of needles, impossible to fathom.
In Taiwan, property prices equate to one's worth. Lillian took pride in the accumulated wealth along her journey, subtly tinged with arrogance. She always acted with determination, especially in matters of financial value, meticulously counting every cent spent on her mother, with clear and precise accounting. This strained relationships among siblings, and most embarrassingly, her mother.
Her mother criticized Lillian for valuing money above all else, bringing up past debts and tearfully accusing her of ingratitude. With her mother's illness, who was right and who was wrong became indistinguishable.
Lillian had long lost any sense of gratitude towards her mother's kindness! Right and wrong had lost all meaning! Between mother and daughter, loneliness and avoidance had set in.
