I dreamt that I was a male villager in a small village. The Japanese invaded our village and were looting artworks from both museums and private collections. They took everything and loaded the artworks onto a train to transport them away.
Determined not to let the artworks fall into Japanese hands, I sneaked into the train's rear carriage, which was filled with wooden crates. Knowing exactly what I was looking for, and being skilled in Chinese martial arts and light-footed techniques, I searched crate by crate. I found that the entire carriage was filled with artworks. Then I pondered how to smuggle them out.
I decided to start with a painting, testing whether I could successfully transport it. Just as I was about to escape, the Japanese soldiers discovered me and started chasing me.
I ran halfway up a mountain and saw several apartment buildings. I climbed onto one of the rooftops, with the Japanese soldiers in hot pursuit.
With the painting strapped to my back, I dodged their gunfire. Realizing that I couldn't keep the painting with me, I thought if I got caught, it would be taken by them too.
I deemed hiding it in the apartments unsafe, as it could easily be found. I noticed a small drainage ditch in a ravine. Since the painting was in a plastic box, I thought it would be a good hiding spot. After hiding the painting in the drainage ditch, I continued to flee, thinking that at least the painting would be safe if the Japanese caught me.
I remembered seeing news about the Nationalist forces fighting the Japanese. Realizing that returning to the village was a death sentence, I decided to join the government forces.
However, the official in charge was preparing to surrender and sign a treaty with the Japanese, pleading for the safety of his family so they could live in peace.
When the official was about to sign the treaty, I felt deeply saddened. After risking my life to recover the artworks, the government was so quick to give up.
Ending 1: Successful Rescue
As the Japanese soldiers continue to chase you, you manage to reach a hidden cave in the mountains that you remembered from your childhood. Inside, you find an underground passage that leads you to a secret hideout of the Nationalist forces. They welcome you and the painting. With their help, you launch a successful counterattack to reclaim the village and its stolen artworks. The village celebrates your bravery, and you become a local hero, ensuring the preservation of your cultural heritage.
Ending 2: A New Alliance
While escaping, you encounter a group of sympathetic Japanese soldiers who are against the war and looting. They recognize the value of the artwork and agree to help you protect it. Together, you devise a plan to smuggle the painting out of the occupied area. In the process, you build a secret network of resistance fighters who work from within the enemy ranks, eventually leading to a successful rebellion that restores peace and autonomy to your village.
Ending 3: Personal Sacrifice
Realizing that you cannot outrun the Japanese soldiers forever, you decide to make a stand. You hide the painting in the drainage ditch and lead the soldiers away from it, drawing their attention to yourself. In a dramatic confrontation, you manage to fend off the soldiers long enough for the painting to remain hidden and safe. You are captured, but your act of bravery and sacrifice inspires the villagers and sparks a larger movement against the invaders. Eventually, the villagers and the Nationalist forces unite and drive the Japanese out, recovering all the looted artworks.
Ending 4: Diplomatic Resolution
As you hide the painting, you come across a high-ranking Japanese officer who has a deep appreciation for art and culture. You manage to convince him of the value and importance of preserving the artworks for future generations. Moved by your passion and reasoning, the officer decides to protect the artworks and negotiate a ceasefire. The artworks are returned, and the officer helps broker peace between the Japanese and the village, leading to a surprising and unlikely alliance that benefits both sides.
Ending 5: Future Hope
You successfully hide the painting in the drainage ditch and continue to evade the Japanese soldiers. Eventually, you reach a neighboring city where you connect with an underground network of art preservers and historians. Together, you plan a long-term strategy to protect cultural treasures from the ongoing conflict. Years later, after the war ends, you return to your village as an elder. The painting and other artworks are recovered, and you establish a museum to educate future generations about the importance of cultural preservation and the resilience of your people.
